About the Role
We're looking for a Creative Executive Assistant & Launch Coordinator — someone to work closely with the founder to bring Indigo to life. This is a wide-ranging role for someone with an eye for style, a love for culture, and the kind of mind that can handle both working in a basic retail environment as well as planning a detailed event.
This is a multi-hat role that blends admin tasks, event planning, fashion, art, and marketing. One day you might help tag clothing, the next you might help plan a live poetry event, design a flyer, or prep an artist showcase. This will be a perfect fit for someone who thrives in creative chaos, loves learning new things, and wants to be part of behind-the-scenes logistics, and big-picture planning, creating something meaningful from the ground up.
You'll be working side-by-side with the founder, helping organize, create, research, manage, and build every day. That includes some personal assistant-style tasks like errands, inbox management, organization, and day-to-day help — but in a way that ties directly into growing a brand, building a community, and making ideas happen. No two days will look exactly the same — and that’s the best part.
What You'll Do
-Daily / Weekly Tasks-
✦ Assist with day-to-day errands and communications
✦ Research local artists, trends, or vendors
✦ Design simple graphics/flyers (Canva experience is a plus!)
✦ Assist in planning and executing events (concerts, art shows, workshops, etc.)
✦ Help with vendor coordination and outreach
✦ Support setup and takedown at events
✦ Work with local creatives, musicians, and stylists
✦ Sort, tag, and price secondhand clothing and accessories based on brand, condition, and style
✦ Steam, wash or prep items for in-store and online display
✦ Style mannequins, racks, or flat lays for the shop
✦ Photograph inventory and upload to our digital system or socials
✦ Manage and update social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
✦ Write and schedule engaging social media posts and captions
✦ Respond to customer DMs, emails, and inquiries
✦ Track inventory and sales; assist with basic bookkeeping (Google Sheets, Square, etc.)
✦ Run errands for supplies or event prep
✦ Assist in fittings and prepping models
✦ Maintain shop cleanliness, visual organization and brand
✦ Assist with research, trend scouting, and weekly planning check-ins
✦ Brainstorm + co-create future ideas and experiences for our customers
-Occasional / Project-Based Tasks-
✦ Help coordinate and run live events (concerts, comedy, poetry, art nights, etc.)
✦ Collaborate with local artists, vendors, and performers
✦ Design flyers, signage, invites, and press kits (Canva or Adobe)
✦ Set up event lighting, signage, furniture, merch tables, etc.
✦ Assist backstage or during events (guest lists, vendors, artist relations)
✦ Help with screen printing, alterations, or art studio prep
✦ Represent Indigo at local markets, pop-ups, or festivals
✦ Contribute creatively to campaigns, displays, window designs, and lookbooks
✦ Organize business tools and workflows (Google Drive, Shopify, scheduling apps)
✦ Provide creative ideas and systems to improve Indigo's operation and culture
- Personal Assistant Tasks & Founder Support-
You'll be working closely with the founder to keep Indigo running smoothly behind the scenes — especially during this launch and growth phase. That includes:
✦ Helping manage calendars, reminders, and meeting notes
✦ Organizing task lists, documents, and creative ideas in Google Drive
✦ Sending and responding to emails or messages on behalf of the founder
✦ Running occasional personal or business-related errands
✦ Assisting with scheduling, coordinating bookings, and follow-ups
✦ Supporting goal-setting, deadlines, and creative brainstorming
✦ Creating and maintaining simple systems for productivity and communication
✦ Acting as a second brain: catching the details, keeping things moving
✦ Being a sounding board and co-strategist on creative projects and decisions
Type: Part-time paid internship to start, with LOTS of growth potential
Location: Local to Radford, with some remote tasks (You may also be required to travel)

Start Date: As soon as the stars align ✨
Pay: Hourly rate + event pay or commissions depending on tasks
Pay & Compensation:
We believe good people deserve good pay. This role will be compensated hourly, with additional earning opportunities through events, commissions, or creative projects. The exact structure will depend on your experience, availability, and what you bring to the table — but it will be worth your time and energy.
This is an hourly paid position — starting with a base rate of $17/hr with opportunities to earn commission or per-event bonuses depending on involvement. We're a start-up, but we value our people and believe in fair pay for creative work. Compensation will reflect both the effort you bring and the role you help shape.

Commission or bonuses tied to events, sales, or outreach
Per-event pay for show nights, workshops, and pop-ups
Creative project stipends (ex: for campaigns, styling, or shoots)
Performance-based raises (Unlimited earning potential)
Let us know your pay expectations in the application — we’re ready to discuss and open to evolving the pay structure as the role grows.

Collaborate with local creatives and expand your portfolio
Contribute ideas directly to the brand’s voice, mission, and community impact
Move to a higher, salaried position
Earn class credits
This role may be eligible for college credit depending on your school’s internship or experiential learning program. We're happy to sign off on paperwork or provide evaluations if needed.
Beyond that, this role is designed to build real-world creative, retail, and entrepreneurial experience. You’ll leave with:
A deeper understanding of how creative businesses actually run
Project samples for your portfolio
Event planning, marketing, and styling experience
A strong reference (if we work well together!)
A local network of artists, musicians, and creative professionals
Whether you’re exploring your first career path or building your next one, Indigo is a space to learn, contribute, and grow.

Alignment
🧩 You’d Be a Great Fit If You:
Are obsessed with fashion, art, music, and creative culture
Are organized and reliable but chill and adaptable
Can handle small details and big-picture thinking
Can take initiative and enjoy working independently
Are excited by the idea of building something new
Are down to do “boring” stuff (tagging clothes) and “exciting” stuff (helping host an event) with the same energy
Have some experience in retail, social media, events, or design (bonus, not required)
We know — this sounds like a lot. And it kind of is.
Indigo is a passion project in motion, and this role is for someone who wants to be in the mix: organizing one day, co-creating the next.
We’re being real about the range of responsibilities because we want the absolute best fit for this role. Yes, there’s a lot going on, but it’s also energizing, creative, and we promise you will never get bored. You’ll be at the heart of something new, fun, and community-driven every single day.
We're building something special, and that takes a little bit of everything.
The role is wide-ranging — from the creative to the logistical — but if you're passionate, adaptable, and excited to learn, it won't feel like “work.” It'll feel like helping shape something magical.
About the Company
Indigo is more than a store — it’s a creative movement. Part clothing resale shop, part artist venue, and part community studio, we’re building a local hub for sustainable fashion, music, art, and self-expression. Think boutique meets underground gallery meets DIY show space. We buy and sell curated fashion, offer services like screen printing and alterations, and host live shows — from concerts and poetry to art nights and creative workshops. We’re launching soon, and we're looking for some passionate people to grow with us.
